Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thank you - can you tell me what this means ? It s from an MRI report of head. Multiple foci of glossing within the peri ventricular what matter and subnormal regions bilaterally. These are nonspecific in appearance but are most likely secondary to chronic small vessel ischemia.
I can understand your concern and would try to help you in the best way possible. The report mentioned here is consistent with chronic small vessel ischaemic disease. It is an incidental finding on an MRI of Brain and is graded based on its severity.
The thing that has to be taken into account is that patients with ischaemic changes are at increased risk of stroke, independently of other stroke risk factors. Hypertension can potentially increase its severity.
You should undergo cardiovascular risk factor optimisation, especially good BP control, as it may decrease stroke risk.
I suggest you consult a doctor who would investigate you and plan a comprehensive management strategy for you which may include dietary modifications, lifestyle changes, medications, physical therapy including yoga and other relaxation techniques.
